Consolidated's Rodgers on the Verge of a Record

When Lamar Consolidated takes the field against undefeated New Braunfels in the Class 4A Division I state semifinals at 7 p.m. in San Marcos tonight, Jacquizz Rodgers will need one touchdown to pass former Cuero running back Robert Strait and become the state's all-time leader with 129.

With 7,850 yards he currently ranks seventh on the all-time Texas High School football rushing list, having passed the legendary Billy Sims of Hooks and Bradley Stephens of McAllen Memorial, with the potential to move higher.

Expect Rodgers to get his touchdown tonight, but the Mustangs will have their work cut out for them against the undefeated Unicorns.
