Keep an eye out for running backs Nate Jeffery of Class 2A Caddo Mills and Traylon Shead of Class 1A Cayuga. Both teams open their playoff drives tonight and how far they go will determine each running back's chances of breaking the all-time state record for career touchdowns.
Both Jeffery and Shead are tied with for second place with Cuero's Robert Strait at 128 career touchdowns and both are well within reach of the all-time mark of 136 set by Lamar Consolidated's Jacquizz Rodgers from 2004-2007.
Also moving up the all-time touchdown list is Denton Ryan quarterback Scotty Young, who now has 113 career touchdown passes after throwing for four scores in the Raiders opening round playoff victory over Saginaw last night.
Young now stands in sixth place, just behind Bayton Lee QB Drew Tate (114) and Jim Ned QB Colt McCoy (116).
