A few notes on the Lufkin/Klein game: Lufkin outgained Klein 501-395 in total yards, but Klein RB DeKota Barnes had a big game with 255 yards rushing, including a 71 yard TD. Lufkin led 16-0 at halftime before the Bearkats rallied to tie the game.Lufkin meets Cypress Ridge next week. The Rams beat Klein 51-21 in the second week of the season, but that was when top RB Hasan Lipscomb was healthy. Lipscomb, who has over 1,000 yards on the season, only carried two times in the Rams opening 26-22 bi-district win over Round Rock.
Cy Ridge QB Russell Shepard, who is committed to LSU, will be forced to carry much of the load. Against Round Rock he responded with 201 rushing yards.
